The Water Baby operates much the same as the Stream Engine but requires very little water. It will operate on as little as .18 l/s (3 gpm) but requires at least 30 meters (100 feet) of head. The Water Baby is Energy Systems & Design's solution to sites where the flow is very low, as low as 3 gpm (0.18 l/s), and the head is above 100 feet (30m). It uses a double stator, brushless permanent magnet generator with a 2" (50mm) pitch diameter bronze turbine wheel.
ES&D's turbines use high-efficiency, precision-cast parts and non-corrosive alloys for long life and durability. A digital multimeter accompanies each turbine for measuring output amperage. They can be used in off-grid or grid-tie systems.
At a head of 100 feet (30m) and a flow of 3 gpm (0.18 l/s) the output is 25 watts; at 24 gpm (1.5 l/s) the output is 250 watts.
