Lombardini Model LDW 702 Marine Diesel Engine with a Polar Model 6250 DC alternator. Specially designed for marine environments.
In terms of equipment space and cost, noise, fuel consumption, maintenance, it makes no sense to install an AC generator. Experienced yachtsmen would agree that the most convenient AC power is supplied through a good inverter. Here you have AC power available at any time day or night without having to start, warm-up and run the generator.
Polar's DC Marine Generator charges the batteries directly in the most efficient manner. Using an AC generator to charge batteries through either a battery charger or an inverter will require a much longer run time due to the current limitations of the battery charger or the inverter. Polar's DC generator can produce significantly more charging current than a typical AC generator system with a battery charger. With a Polar DC generator and a properly sized battery bank you can have all the AC power you want with very little engine run time.
The current capacity of Polar's DC generators is excellent for powering bow thrusters.
ADVANTAGES OF DC OVER AC - Smaller in size and weight. - Lower acoustic noise. - Much lower fuel consumption. - Significantly longer operational life. - Greater reliability. - Simpler to operate and maintain.
OUTPUT POWER There are two power range options, low speed and medium speed. Both options cost the same as they incorporate the same engine and model 6250 alternator. The difference between the medium speed and low speed is that the stator in the alternator is optimized for the speed range.
Low speed: Operating the Lombardini Model LDW 602 FOCS at low speeds of 1,500 to 2,200 RPM creates very little noise. The slow speed also extends engine life. The Model 6250 Alternator is capable of delivering 2.5 kW to 5 kW at this low speed. ?
Medium speed: Operating the engine in the 2,200 to 3,000 RPM range increases power to the 5 kW to 6.5 kW.
LOMBARDINI ENGINE - Lombardini Model LDW 702 FOCS Engine - High quality and low cost. - Similar to a car engine, the oil pan is removable. This facilitates conversion to dry sump or an oversized sump to increase oil capacity. - It’s easy to prime and start. - Very small and light weight. - Worldwide parts and service distribution. - The overhead cam and the patented unit injector system. - This unique arrangement reduces smog emissions, engine noise and facilitates maintenance.?
FEATURES - Solenoid shift type electric starter. - 4 stroke diesel, liquid cooled. - Overhead camshaft. - Indirect fuel injection by unit injectors. - Pressure lubrication by gerotor pump. - Full flow lube filter. - Glow plugs. - Cast iron crankcase with reborable cylinders. - Aluminum alloy cylinder head with replaceable valve guides. - Simple engine shutdown via fuel shut off solenoid.?
