Donate/Invest

We're pioneering a new approach to donations. Rather than giving dollars that get dramatically diluted between your checkbook and the people/projects you'd like to help, you can use this method to directly provide tools that create micro-businesses in developing countries. As the famous African saying goes, "Give a man a fish and he eats for a day; teach a man to fish and he eats forever." This section gives you an opportunity to not only “teach people to fish” but also provide a variety of "fishing poles”, tools that begin a systematic, expanding progression out of poverty. See Donating Tools for Progress for a more complete description.

This list describes people in developing countries with projects and dreams, the tools and training they need to make these dreams real, and the nonprofit organizations sponsoring and overseeing the project. Just click the Donate button to send your contribution and we’ll take it from there including keeping you in touch with how the project does and how the people feel about your donation.

Well Drilling and Pump Installation, Tibet $17,530.00
Collapse
Project Description: Inaccessibility to clean drinking water is one problem but not having access to water at all is even a bigger problem in many remote villages of Tibet. Zolung is one of the villages that lacks drinking water. Zolung is a small village with population of sixty farmers that is located in Yurlung valley. Despite villagers’ water conservation effort, drinking water comes from a small stream that is located about a mile away. Currently they carry water on their back because they don’t have another way of transporting. They also tried to irrigate but water gets lost in sand before reaching the village. Tashi is 32 year old man from Zolung village who wants to setup well drilling and pump installation microenterprise. We found a compete well drilling package that could be used to drill several wells . $5000.00 is average cost of digging one well in Tibet so investing into this one equipment will give ongoing benefit to many villagers. In addition, this will generate income for those who want to specialized in building wells and could afford sending their kids to school (89353-31).
