Ocean Arks International (www.oceanarks.org)
is a nonprofit ecological research, education, and technological development
organization founded in 1981 by John and Nancy Todd. Their mission is
to purify the waters of the earth, develop strategies for living more
lightly on the planet, and foster the emergence of a lasting planetary
culture.
Ocean
Arks is a direct outgrowth of the world-renowned work of the New Alchemy
Institute, which the Todds founded in 1970. Today, Ocean Arks continues
to explore advancements in such areas as ecological design, Living Machines
for treating waste and repairing damaged ecosystems, organic agriculture
systems, solar architecture and bio-shelters, land restoration, and promoting
ecological literacy. To disseminate the ideas and practice of ecological
sustainability throughout the world, Ocean Arks publishes Annals of Earth
three times a year.
Ocean Arks is one of the many organizations The Sustainable
Village is partnering with to help redesign refugee camps as ecologically
sustainable settlements. Click here
