An EWB team just returned from Mauritania where several of them installed
a photovoltaic water pumping system in the village of Bir Moghrein located
in the northern part of Mauritania. The 18 hour trip from the capital
Nouakchott took them through 1,000 km of the Sahara desert. The system
consisting of 8 solar panels (60 V, 16 amps) was able to deliver about
200 liters of water in 6 minutes (i.e. 2,000 liters per hour).
The Sustainable Village helped with the system design and provided the
equipment. To learn more about the EWB, please visit their site www.ewb-usa.org.
