EcoVillage
Network of the Americas (ENA)
This network engages the peoples of the Americas in a common effort to join
the global transformation towards an ecologically, economically, and culturally
sustainable future. It serves as the Western Hemisphere representative of
the Global Ecovillage Network and works to unite cultures from North, Central
and South Americas and the Caribbean to become a unified force in the ecovillage
and sustainability movements. Since its conception in 1995, ENA has built
a strong organizational structure and has a 19 seat Council representing
nine regions: Southern South America, Northern South America, Brazil, Mesoamerica,
Caribbean, United States West, United States East, Canada, and Mobile Ecovillage
initiatives in the Americas. A Central Office coordinating ENA's activities
within the Americas, and International Office connecting ENA with ecovillage
activities around the globe, each with a dedicated and professional staff.
A large core group of volunteers serving on project committees, and, in
Ecovillage Contact Offices in 18 countries in the Americas and develops
strategies for organizational development, programs and funding.
ENA promotes and nurtures new and existing ecovillages within the Americas,
networks ecovillages with each other to share resources and practices, coordinate
collaborative activities.It encourages understanding and ways of living
in harmony with each other and the Earth through the research, development
and demonstration of sustainable living strategies. It shares the work and
inspiration of the ecovillage movement with society at large through demonstration
projects, educational programs, networking conferences and meetings with
government and other organizations. See ENA
